Resources | Bluffs and Gullies
Erosion of bluffs and gullies along the Lake Huron shoreline is a natural process that is unpredictable. Sometimes a slope can be inactive for many years, and then conditions can lead to major erosion events. Often there are subtle signs that can indicate that an erosion event may be imminent. This checklist is a guide to help know some of the key signs to look out for. A large scale slump can lead to significant property loss, and be a danger to anyone living in proximity to a slide. This guide is not a substitute for proper emergency planning. Contact your municipality or local conservation authority for advice on erosion hazard planning.
